Intimate Concert for Child Cancer
Larasati Oetomo
19 February 2019

Held at Hotel Tentrem Yogyakarta, the second Intimate Concert with Once, Ari Lasso, and Kikan brought hope for children with cancer at Yayasan Pita Kuning.

After the success of the first concert in Malang late in 2018, Esa Kreasi Promosindo as the promoter of the event offered something new by adding Kikan to complete the original line-up—Once and Ari Lasso. Lilo as the initiator of the charity concert was appointed as the host of the night, adding crisps with his ad-libs and guest performance.

After foreword given from Ernest Rafael, CEO of Esa Kreasi, and Pandji Pragiwaksono as a representative from Yayasan Pita Kuning, Once opened the warm evening with his solo hit Ku Cinta Kau Apa Adanya and Bob Tutupoly’s classic Symphony Yang Indah. After such grand opening, Ari Lasso took the baton effortlessly with Mengejar Matahari.

Kikan and Lilo soon joined him in vocals with Rahasia Perempuan, elevating the heat in the room. The ex-vocalist of Cokelat showed off what she’s got after few decades in the industry while singing all-time hits Karma and Bendera.

Things got more intimate on the second phase. Once got unplugged with the rearranged version of Dealova, leaving the audience overwhelmed with succumbing emotions. He continued with spontaneous arrangement of Queen’s Save Me and Dewa’s Pupus; an unlikely medley that left us dumbfounded. Ari Lasso also showed the vulnerable side of his voice with his solo ballad and finally hit the soft spot with Cinta ‘Kan Membawamu. Entering the end of the night, Once and Ari Lasso teamed up for Dewa’s debut track Kangen while Lilo once again joined them to serenade KLa Project’s Yogyakarta and closing song of the night: Kamulah Satu-Satunya.

Around two hundred people at Tentrem’s Ballroom witnessed how music has power to move and change people. Carrying vigorous spirit to bring hope for the children with cancer, Esa Kreasi and Yayasan Pita Kuning will soon return for more intimate surprises at the upcoming show in Jakarta.
