Sapto Djojokartiko recently unleashed yet another majestic creation to welcome Fall/Winter 2019 season.

Held at Lucy in The Sky, SCBD Jakarta, the collection embedded the glory of Sriwijayan era. Details deriving from Syailendra Dynasty such as golden thread and architectural appliqué are seen everywhere, tainted in olive, maroon, and navy colors. A total of 35 looks are exhibited to represent the natural landscape of the Buddhist monarch with a regal touch.

For this collection, Sapto escapes from his major Javanese influence he’s familiar with and plays with bolder embroidery, ornaments, and pleating technique. These aspects reflect the ferociousness of Sumatran and Cambodian legacy in Sriwijayan era. The hints are also seen in hand-bags, where he uses taffeta fabric embroidered in golden and silver thread.

Even so, he keeps some of his signature soupçon by using subtler and monochromatic colors. Some of his fans may already be familiar with his use of see-through fabric and ruffles.

The Solo-born designer chose light and comfortable fabric for this couture collection. The philosophy behind all this, as admitted by him, is that simplicity is an understated glamour. In this sense, he believes that women may wear proper evening attire with comfort. This is where his touch of modernity meets centuries-old heritage of the kingdom.

The show was supported by Bobbi Brown Indonesia for the make-up and L’Oreal Professionnel for the hair-do. Tulola Jewelry also provides handcrafted jewelries that go well with the mystic looks.

Some of the hippest fashionistas and socialites in town were also seen at the show, such as Marsha Timothy, Reza Rahadian, Annisa  Pohan Yudhoyono, and Ayla Dimitri. VIPs and buyers are also seen on the front row.
