Women of Cannes: Style Guide

Women rule the 71st edition of Cannes Film Festival. Led by actor Cate Blanchett, the board of juries consists of 5 women from total 9 members. Among them are actors Kristen Stewart and Lea Seydoux, filmmaker Ava DuVernay, and musician Khadja Nin.

These fierce women not only showed how much women can do in men-domineered world of cinema, they also brought critical agenda of gender parity, including Women’s March and silent women protest during the festival. Aside from that, they had something pretty to show.

Ever since arriving at Nice airport, Cate, Kristen, and Lea took their decisive role as main juries to a fashion statement. They taught us some good lessons on wearing menswear better than men. Blazers, suits, shades, and eye make-up—here’s what we can steal from their looks:

CATE BLANCHETT

Cate arrived at the airport in loose two-pieces paired with low-rise black blouse, showing people who the boss is.

The Ocean 8’s star wore elegant pastel suits from Stella McCartney during the Jury Photocall Session, paired with matching sandals and shades.

As we can never get enough of pastels, the 49-year old wore a pair of pastel yellow suit from Calvin Klein during Jury Dinner. Just look at how her Stuart Weitzman boots and Tyler Ellis bag made her the First Lady of Fashion!

KRISTEN STEWART

At Nice airport, she pulled on some boyfriend-fit jeans, mullet hair, loose t-shirt, and leather jackets—Kristen is every boy in the 90s, yet she managed to look cooler than most of them.

It’s pastel day! The movie star gave a chance to knitted baby blue suit from Chanel Resort 2019 collection. Accessories? All she needs is shades and a coffee tumbler.

During the jurors protest at Girls of The Sun premiere, once again Kristen stood strong in bicolor suit from Chanel Resort.

LEA SEYDOUX

Bond Girl who?” Lea proved her class with classic black pantsuit, ponytails, and round shades.

Superheroes do wear cape. Lea stylized her emerald Louis Vuitton suit as shoulder cape, paired with nice white blouse and bold lipstick.

One can’t go wrong with biker jacket—even when you paired it with lovely black pumps. All you need is few some gold accessories and loose curls on your hair.
