Davy Linggar's unbridled passion for photography has taken him on a handful of trips across the globe. HighEnd conversed with him to talk about his travel diary, photography, and how the two harmoniously blend together.

What photographic style compels you the most?

I love street photography. When being out and about, I like to observe my surroundings, all the details, and everything that feels personal for me. Even when I was pursuing photography studies, I still spent most of my time traveling to different cities.

What are destinations that aspire you the most?

Japan. Tokyo, Kyoto, and art islands Naoshima and Teshima. There are always details that never bore me in that country; from its people, architectures, to row of stores. Also everything is practically easy to find in Japan, like camera accessories or inspiring books.

Do you have your favorite Japanese photographer?

Yes, I am a fan of Hiroshi Sugimoto and Daido Moriyama.

Other than Japan, do you have any preferred destinations?

I also adore New York City. In general, I like urban cities for their own characteristics, complexity and yet ease of access - ideal stops for photo hunting.

What about natural destinations?

There are times where I went hiking pretty often. The challenge of hiking has always been picking the right camera - I suggest the lighter, the better. Your physical condition should also be very fit. You have to follow your own rhythm. If you get tired, don't force yourself. Know your own capability.

What are your travel wish-list?

I really want to visit and explore the North and South Poles.

What are your trips for photo hunting while traveling?

Bring lightweight gears that come in handy. In my case, I bring my Leica M10, some small lenses, and a small camera bag.
