Some colors may elicit specific moods to the beholder. This is one interesting fact used widely in design, artworks, and brands.


Among many cultures, each color is perceived differently, thus, leaving a particular impression. In architecture design, the psychological approach to pick the right colors as mood gimmick gains its popularity for the last few decades. For example, we tend to pick calmer colors for bedroom for preparing the eyes to relax. What else then, can we know about our home and colors?

LIVING ROOM

Blue-grey, indigo blue, mauve, lavender

Living room needs to impress a combination of hospitality and relaxation. Cool color like blue-grey shade elicits friendly and homey mood. In the other hand, colors like lavender and mauve are one of the most relaxing colors; being one of the most popular colors in therapeutic clinics.

KITCHEN

Green, olive, lime

Shades of light green elicits sense of health, liveliness, and freshness. This suits the room where health is perceived as most important, that is kitchen.

DINING ROOM

Wine, rose, mahogany

Dining room is the place where most family gather. Thus, picking warm color will be best. Experts recommend shades of red as symbol of warmth, passion, and regality.

WORKING ROOM

Yellow, lemon, tuscan sun

For working space, warm and bright color will enhance sense of creativity and cheerfulness. Shades of yellow are popular example for creative room. Be careful for not putting too much yellow shade, since it easily tires your eyes.

BEDROOM

Wood: Oak, walnut, cherry. Muted colors 

Bedroom is the place where relaxation and tranquility takes its utmost role. Muted colors like tapestry beige, ocean air, and soft green offer reliable relaxation. To balance the already-cool tone of muted colors, some warm elements like wood will keep you away from looking plain and boring.
