It’s a warm, warm autumn. There’s no use of feeling blue as summer fades to fall because high-fashion labels have decided to paint the season red.
There’s something intriguing going on in this transitional fashion season. Fashion houses started to revamp their mannequins in reds, electric, and bright colors. At least Hermes, Givenchy, and Valentino have proved so.
The creative directors behind these maisons have agreed on using even more vibrant colors for Pre-fall than the current Spring/Summer season. Basically, it is safe to say this is your right time to dress flamboyantly.
VALENTINO
Pierpaolo Piccioli invited guests for champagne and a sneak peek of Valentino’s 2018 Fall Couture collection last week. One striking factor in the collection would be the vibrant that Piccioli chose – it’s definitely a bold move, especially for fall. It is inspired by styles from the Middle Ages to the 18th century. His colors range from hot pink and orange, just in case you need warmer color to survive the weather.
GIVENCHY
In her second ever collection for Givenchy, Clare Waight Keller fostered “confidence” and “daring” qualities in women. Picking bold colors like amber, black, and electric blue, as well as tailoring contrasted cuts in most of the collection, Keller would like to introduce her androgynous approach to apparel. It’s just fun to see how their trench coats, suits, and pants fit both men and women perfectly.
BALENCIAGA
Everything is gigantic in Balenciaga’s 2018 Pre-fall lookbook. The Spanish house mixes cigarette-pants and ankle boots with oversized jackets and coats. What draws our attention is their fusing of garment in the likes of tartan and leather. Balenciaga gives fresh airs from red and copper hues with their floral prints and yellow-blue palette.
BURBERRY
Photographed in Ghana, one of Adwoa Aboah’s hometowns, the Pre-fall campaign of Burberry joined the colorful bandwagon with contrasted color splash and graffiti prints in most of their pieces. With her model friend Sonny Hall, Adwoa reimagined Burberry vintage with unexpected mixture of colors. You may say that Christmas comes early with their festive red sweaters and windbreakers.
HERMES
Hermes is in all literal sense the epitome of fall. With warm, earthy palette covering their figure-hugging coats and jackets, the French house reminds us of what it’s like to be both down-to-earth and sophisticated. Wool, as a season’s standard, is combined with leather and silk to compose an urban depiction of slow life. This season, it is Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski who establishes the color of the season: brick orange.
