The annual fashion parade THE MASTERPIECE returned this year to remark our 10 years of journey.
Java Ballroom at The Westin Jakarta was filled with joy on Friday, 7 December 2018. As the ultimate guide for first-class lifestyle, HighEnd held a couture fashion show under the theme “Sparkle of The East”, in join with MNC Fashion and MNC Lifestyle’s I Fashion Festival (IFF). This is going to be our second year of joint project to pay homage to local prominent designers and fashion people.
10 designers gathered at the backstage to showcase their masterwork as inspired by 10 selected Asian countries. They include Ivan Gunawan, Melta Tan, Fetty Rusli, Le Ciel Design, Maya Ratih Couture, Wiki Wu, Michelle Alphonsa, Gracia Shinta, Albert Yanuar, and Livette Tenun. They endeavor to present cultural legacy from understated Asian countries such as Lebanon, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan.
On the backstage, the creative directors are busy embellishing their models with sophisticated outfits and accessories. Some designers already prepared 12-pounds fur coat, 2-foot tall horn, a pair of mechanic wings, chandelier-shaped headpiece, and… Christmas lanterns. Others kept their secrets unrevealed until show time. One thing for sure: everyone was dying to witness what’s going to happen on the runway.
Our selected designers also worked with award-winning accessory designer Rinaldy Yunardi to create more dramatic looks. You’ll see gilded accessories, gigantic coats, and authentic Asian embellishments in the collections. Few hours before the show time, models took their chance to take photographs for a special fashion editorial you can find on our first issue in 2019.
THE MASTERPIECE 2018 became more special as Mrs. Liliana Tanaja Tanoesoedibjo presented her debut fashion collection under Livette Tenun. Miss Indonesia 2016 Natasha Mannuella was given the privilege to present the Indonesia-inspired couture gown. Before the show took place, IFF presented dozens of collection from 4 designers: PURANA, Billy Tjong, Sofie, and Adamaya, as well as endowing Lifestyle Awards 2018 for influential people in 2018.
