Jakarta Best High Tea

Surrounded by an artistic flair inspired by the moment Hendra Gunawan found inspirations for his artworks, high tea experience at The Writers Bar, Raffles Jakarta is absolutely like no other.

Dubbed the meeting point for art and ideas, business and leisure, glamour and fashion, Raffles Jakarta is another choice to spend a delightful afternoon sipping tea and enjoying little bites of pleasure at The Writers Bar.

As a reinterpretation of The Writers Bar at Raffles Singapore, the one in Jakarta boasts Indonesian history, literature and artifacts in its interior and concept. Two long chandeliers of crystals falling from the ceiling represent the rain while the gold accents on the blue carpet symbolize fish swimming in the waters.

Interpretations of Hendra Gunawan’s paintings that adorn the walls peek through a number of half-opened windows. These all correspond to the story where Hendra Gunawan discovered the proverbial light bulb, thus inspiring him to create his masterpieces.

One must never miss the highlight of The Writers Bar’s high tea selections, namely The Stamford Tower, an elegant three-tier stand inside a bird cage. The Stamford Tower consists of an interesting combination of sweet pastries and savory bites; including home-made scones with mascarpone cheese and jam, Florentines, mini caramel éclairs, lemon tarts, smoked salmon pretzels, cucumber dill cream cheese on pumpernickel bread and truffle egg sandwiches.

Wash them all down with a refreshing taste of Yuzu ice cream in a white chocolate lollipop, and the signature Raffles Jakarta Tea, black tea infused with spices, honey and berries.
