No one saw it coming but an overnight surprise is here for all fashion enthusiasts! As the special guest of one of the most notable menswear runway events of the fashion calendar, Givenchy unveiled its out-of-the-blue collaboration with one of the oldest shoe manufacturer in Japan, Onitsuka Tiger.

This collaboration marked Givenchy’s first partnership with external sneaker manufacturer on a global scale, which in the same manner marked the first time the Japanese leather-working company works with a luxury fashion house. Could their collaboration be bootleg-meets-ironic version we wonder about?

The French Luxury House’s artistic director Clare Waight Keller showcased her first standalone menswear show, including the new Mexico 66™ GDX sneakers at the Pitti Uomo runway. For Givenchy, the director aspired for the iconic shoe to be reinterpreted in graphic monochrome and framed within her global vision of integrating monochrome styles for menswear.

The co-branded Givenchy x Onitsuka Tiger shoes features two different variations on NIPPON MADE MEXICO 66™heritage style–the all-white version with the brand’s hallmark dynamic tiger-stripe lines paired with ‘Givenchy’ lettering and a black version striking in Givenchy’s signature bright red detailing. Both silhouette sports feature a back tab emblazoned with ‘Givenchy – Onitsuka Tiger’, underlining the collaboration’s craftsmanship and exclusivity.

The specially designed packaging underscores this special collaboration. The campaign images fuse Japanese’ high energy and dynamic nature, featured in sports-inspired poses to highlight the meeting of cultures.

And now the answer to everyone’s question in mind: the limited-edition collaboration kicks are now available for purchase in both parties’ flagship stores worldwide online through Givenchy.com, first ever line pop-up in Japan and selected social media, retailing at $550 USD.
