During fasting, your skin may as well feel dehydrated. This skin condition is different to dry skin and may get worse—how do we distinguish and fight them?

You might have read somewhere that the core difference between dry and dehydrated skin is that dry skin lacks in retaining moisture in skin deriving from oil, while dehydrated skin lacks the intensity of water.  It is also important to know that dry skin is a type of skin—meaning that the skin condition tends to be stable over time. Dehydrated skin is more situational—it breaks out when you’re losing considerable amount of water. How do we distinguish them?

Dehydrated skin may appear in all skin types, and they make skin appear duller and aged than most dry skin. The strange thing about dehydrated skin is that they feel both dry and oily. Our body automatically produces sebum to replace lost water supply. It can be worse for combination or oily skin. This type of skin condition is mostly triggered by climate, sun and air conditioner exposure, hot water bath, to simply—lack of drink supply. The cure to dehydrated skin is, of course, drinking right amount of water. We certainly can’t do that while fasting—jinx!
