Kim Jones presented his first pre-fall Cruise collection for Dior Men not long ago, and it is sure that he is ready to set a new future for the brand.

Held in Tokyo, Dior Men Pre-Fall 2019 show was nothing but classic futurism. Japanese illustrator Hajime Sorayama was the guest of honor, as he was the man behind the 12-meter-high shimmering robot who stood tall as the centerpiece of the hall. It was the first ever Men “Cruise” collection for the brand, so we can surely anticipate something big.

The collection exhibits classic futurism in platinum blue, grey, and glistening silver. Jones is using chic classic cuts in the form of kimono, trench coat, and 50s Japanese-inspired suits. The gleaming colors are no gimmick, as the fabrics are actually treated to an oxidation process that is normally done in bicycle-making. In terms of fabric, silk, wool, and leather still dominate the collection.

For lesser formal looks, Jones introduced the “distorted” version of Christian Dior monogram, cherry blossom prints, and leopard prints. For the android-inspired accessories, the British designer hired Tokyo-born jewelry designer Yoon Ambush. Some of the looks and accessories are inspired by classic aviation uniforms, dyed in glistening blue-silver color.

Dior regulars and special guests filled the row. Some of them are Japanese fashion icons, including Kiko Mizuhara. Dior regulars and celebrities also joined the show, including David Beckham and A$AP Rocky. Among all, supermodel Kate Moss and Bella Hadid popped out the most. The two of them were stealing looks straight from the menswear runway, creating an undeniable boyish vibe.
