The Haute Couture 2019 Paris Fashion Week has many jaw-dropping moments—from childhood memories, circus, ruffles, leather, to gigantic bow.

Here are some of our top picks from the shows:

Dior

Dior amazed the crowd as they turned their fashion show into a circus ring, completed with a tent lined with strings of light and a rainbow tiled runway. Sparkles, structure, and a touch of Victorian era was definitely the key points of the show. Pleats, metallic shades, sheer tulle gowns, and a fully-beaded look with themed embroidery definitely earned the appreciation for this collection.

Giambattista Valli

There is never too much tulle, pink, volume, and ruffles for Giambattista Valli collection, and it's especially true for the SS 2019 Couture Collection. The glamorous ‘80s touch can be clearly seen in the oversized bow details, the massive voluminous sleeve and shoulder silhouette, and the super short hemlines. Playing the game of opposites, Giambattista Valli uses neat, compact silhouettes to balance the overwhelming tulle and ruffles.

Chanel

Despite the absence of Karl Lagerferld, the show that was held inside the Grand Palais was a raging success. There were plenty ’80s references such as bubble hem dress, pointed toe kitten heel, and volumized shoulder, ruffles, and feathers. The show has a major Victorian Punk vibe with the hair and makeup, and the touch of feathers and leather. Even so, the real show stopper was the final look of the night, the Chanel Couture bridal look.

Givenchy

Givenchy went all in with the super-sized bow, fringe, and glitter mask for the SS19 Couture Collection. Waight-Keller combined bows with less feminine element such as fun colorful fringe, structured dresses, and blazers. However, the giant bow was undeniably the star of the show. The bows were attached like a pair of wings to backpacks worn by the models as they made entrance.

Valentino

Valentino closes Couture week with a bang. They even had the legendary Naomi Campbell wearing sheer black ruffle gown with volumized sleeves. Along with this epic moment, Valentino delivered bold colors, dramatic silhouettes, florals, and ruffles. The florals and frill of the dresses are complemented with beautiful make-up looks. The show was so beautiful that it brought Celine Dion to tears — literally.

Balmain

For this collection, all we can say is: Pearl, pearl, and pearl. Glowing pearls are all over the show—from skin, accessories, to dresses. Balmain delivered the boldness and edginess the brand is known for in the silhouette of the dresses. They also revealed a finale that definitely caught everyone’s attention in a good way.
