September is our fashion month! In this special fashion edition, we cover fashionable people, fashion photographers, and fashion brands we love.
We are also happy to have a flash rendezvous with international singer and Asia's Got Talent judge Anggun to find out what she thought about fashion industry, local designers, and her personal style.
What do you think about the fashion industry in Indonesia? How does it evolve from time to time?
I have the feeling that more Indonesian designers are taking a bold move in their creation and it pays off; as the world is now getting curious about them. I’m talking about Tex Saverio, whose works are worn by Lady Gaga and featured in The Hunger Games. Also Rinaldy Yunardi, whose crafts are worn by Katy Perry, Nicky Minaj, and Cassie at Met Gala 2017. I can’t help but feeling proud about them, not only because they are Indonesians, but also because I am a huge fan of their works.
What are your opinions on indigenous fashion?
I think it’s a very smart move when Didit Hediprasetyo applies Songket for his designs. He truly works with artisans in Indonesia to create unique patterns. With that level of complexity and logistical cost of Songket production, it is haute couture by definition. Didit introduces Indonesian culture in such elegant and subtle way.
Three fashion items you cannot live without?
Little Black Dress (LBD) or Little White Dress (LWD), killer heels, and an Audemars Piguet around my wrist.
